project 2 update #3

Ann Roseberry has accepted my proposal!

Hi, Chris.  This sounds very cool to us.  I have sent it to the Director of Parks and Facilities to get some help on the power connections.  Because it is an art installation, we are likely to have some paperwork for you to sign.  I’m not certain what that will entail; typically it discusses insurance.
What is your timeline for this?
Connie and I are staunch on artistic freedom and intellectual freedom.  I say that because I want to ask if you would be open to a slight change to “I am not dying.”
The reason I ask, Chris, is that we are across the street from Kadlec and those exact words could be difficult for some.  Does this make sense?  I love the intent of the message and the point and that you came to us with this.  I am only asking you to consider a change; not asking you to make a change.
We will be in touch on our timing for power.  Please be in touch with us for anything else we need to have ready.
Thank you so much

I am open to the changes she suggested. I am thinking of focusing more on the evolution part of the slogan or using other words like survive or disappear but I am not sure. The plan is to have the projection finished by Oct 26 to have it approved by Ann.

The target date for the project is still Nov 9th,11th, and 13th.

Project 2 update #2

I have put together a proposal for my tactical media project. One of the issues I had was getting around the reputation tactical media has gained. Tactical media and activism go together like peanut-butter and jam. When explaining tactical media I didn't want the "Yes Men" to the poster boy's. Here is what I submitted to the branch manager, Ann Roseberry.

Project 2 update #1

I spoke with the reference manager Connie at the Richland Public Library. She said she would inform the branch manager of my idea and get back to me.

Connie responded:

Christopher:

In conversation with the Library manager regarding your project, Ann Roseberry, she would like to have a written proposal that covers the parameters of the project as well as procedural items.  In addition we would need to approve the messages you were projecting.  We may be able to provide the data on traffic numbers for Swift to assist in choosing the best time to do the projecting.

If you can provide this information ASAP, she is meeting with our department head this morning.  He would need to give final approval before we can proceed.

Thanks!

Connie

Reference Librarian

Sounds like a soft yes to me. So, I guess I am putting together a written proposal.

Project 2

For project 2 I have decided to work with the Richland Public Library in a tactical media project. The project will challenge rumor's that libraries are becoming obsolete, due to the rise of digital technology. Digital books are more accessible than ever with smart phones and mobile apps. It is simply not true. Digital books have actually multiplied libraries collections and make them more accessible through a online presence.

I plan to take advantage of the library's location on the corner of Swift and Goethals across from Kadlec hospital. By projecting large text onto the library I hope to give the building a voice. The text would be from first person. Slogans like "I am not dying. I am evolving" "Digital books only enhance my collection"
